Description
"A few months after the loss of her mother, the narrator and her father sit in their back garden, still learning to negotiate the new territory of grief they now inhabit. Unexpectedly, they observe an animal-about the size of a dog, with a long proboscis, brown fur, and intelligent eyes-that doesn't seem to be part of any known species. They post a photo of this discovery online, and before long, sightings of these new creatures-dubbed "mimmoths"-are occurring globally. But though they seem harmless-even cute-not everyone welcomes the mimmoths. Some call for their extermination, while a watchful few observe their strange and purposeful behavior. Gradually, people seem to be forgetting what life was like before the coming of the mimmoths. Our narrator embarks on a journey to understand the mimmoths' true nature and why they have come. Is it her deeply personal rituals of mourning that have lent recent events a surreal air, or is our reality changing drastically and irrevocably?"--
