Labyrinth Books Seeking Bookseller for Offsite Sales Support
Labyrinth is seeking a Bookseller to provide sales support at author talks and book events on Princeton University campus, at the Princeton Public Library, and in the greater Princeton community.
The position is part-time (usually 3-5 shifts per week and concentrated during Princeton’s spring and fall semesters).
We’re seeking a person with a strong work ethic who has good communication skills both in person and in writing. Attention to detail is a must.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Representing Labyrinth to Princeton’s community and providing our standard of customer service throughout the town and on campus
- Assisting authors and event organizers with book signings and line maintenance
- Maintaining our inventory via accurate sales on our offsite point-of-sale system (Square app on iPad)
- Packing boxes of books and transporting them to event locations on foot with a handcart. Walks range from 5 minutes to 15 minutes /0.5 miles. You must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Occasionally transporting books by vehicle to events outside of walking distance
- Flexible availability: The bookseller’s schedule will follow the needs of our campus and community partners. Most events are weekday afternoons and weekday evenings, with occasional weekends, as our partners' event needs vary weekly.
We strongly prefer at least a few years of practical work experience. This would also be an ideal role for a retired professional who has stamina and ambition.
The compensation package includes an hourly wage, health care benefits, a retirement plan, and vacation and sick leave, and a generous employee discount. After completing a probation period of sixty days, our new bookseller would become a member of RSDSU Local 1102. The starting hourly for a bookseller is $17. Please send letter and resume to General Manager: virginia@labyrinthbooks.com. We will contact qualified applicants for an interview.
