Description
Poetry. Botany and genetics donate many of the tropes for this sequence of poems, which opens with a sudden meeting, an encounter between two people. For one of the protagonists, the shock, after the chronic but almost intangible contact, finally precipitates the search for silenced memories because, she believes, only their expression can untangle a repetitious story, provide the precursors to synthesize a more balanced but unpredictable future--one that, like DNA, might be double or single stranded. "The author moves through a web of languages, a weft of images. She makes boxes, boxes in which her passionate and her cool words come together to create vibrant lifeforms. Boxes--not cages--in which losses are translated into gains. Little boxes which protect their secrets, while simultaneously setting them free"--Peter Gisi.
