Description
"What do we lose when art is consumed by moral debates? Over the past decade, many art institutions have prioritized biography and adherence to liberal values as measures of cultural worth. Art history has been reframed to suit contemporary narratives, with art's value tied to its creator's virtue. In Against Morality, Rosanna McLaughlin critiques this trend, which she labels "Liberal Realism," highlighting the limitations of overtly ideological art. She calls for a broader perspective that encompasses the full range of human experience." -- back cover.
