Part-time work at Labyrinth Books

Seeking energetic, personable bookseller for a public-facing customer service role. Duties include (but not limited to) cash register, assisting customers, book research, answering phones, shelving, section maintenance, displays, help with book events in the store and off-site. Minimum of three shifts of at least six hours.

Requirements:

Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and with a team. Good communication skills both in person and in writing. A strong commitment to literacy and reading. Interest in a broad range of issues/disciplines. Curiosity, patience, and an understanding of the needs and demands of small business are a plus. Attention to detail is a must. You must be comfortable being on your feet for much of the day. We prefer at least a few years of practical work experience. This job is not suitable for a person of high-school age.

The compensation package includes an hourly wage, health care benefits, a retirement plan, and vacation and sick leave, and a generous employee discount. After completing a probation period of sixty days, our new bookseller would become a member of RSDSU Local 1102. The starting hourly rate for a bookseller is $17.
