This catalogue was published on the occasion of the exhibition "Looking for the Normal" at the Luther w Brady Art Gallery at George Washington University. of the work of Sarah McCoubrey (b. 1958. Lives and works in Syracuse, NY) In Sarah McCoubrey's realist paintings, the artist creates scenes of ordinary landscapes infused with pop culture images that comment on society, adding greater meaning to, what appear to be, simple images. McCoubrey received her MFA from the University of Pennsylvania and is an Associate Professor of Art at Syracuse University. She is the recipient of several grants, including the New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Painting, a Milton Avery Foundation Fellowship, a MacDowell Colony Fellowship and a New York State Council on the Arts Grant.
