Description
""A thousand years in thy sight are as yesterday..."--from that well know 90th Psalm comes the theme for this book. The author sees the centuries of Old Testament history and development as reaching their climax in "the day" of the coming of Christ. Undergirding all that God spoke of old to the fathers by the prophets is trust in the God who creates, sustains, judges and saves his people. Whether we therefore read the account of the creation of the world in Genesis, the poetry of the psalms or the sayings of the prophets, these writings are a confession of faith, the Credo, of God's people in history. Whith that in mind, the author deals with the history of Israel, its faith and life in a scholarly yet uncomplicated way. Through his presentation he wants to help us see our time in the Old Testament. This is therefore not simply a book about the history of Israel; it is also what is sometimes called an Old Testament Theology--not heavy-footed, abstruse, involved--but theology a non-specialist can readily appreciate."
